Wouldn't it be possible just use a sound file of bleep bloop or whatever *as* the voice acting?

I'd really really love a simplified export function that either would make an all inclusive .exe (All the dependencies and assets, etc, would be part of the .exe), or the ability to export into a zip file with the proper dependency hierarchy...

Or does this already exist?

Also, it'd be nice if when I select an object in the preview window, the preview didn't revert to the beginning of the page rather that the action I had selected.

Edit: Another nice thing would be the ability to create pauses in the middle of a paragraph, much like how text is done in Tsukihime; a block of text could be revealed in multiple clicks, rather than all at once. I say this because I'd like to get whole paragraphs up on the page, but not overwhelm the reader by having it appear all at once.

Edit 2: Wow I am forgetful. Anyways I read earlier that someone was wanting to make some sort of tree diagram for games with multiple routes. You could possibly make something akin to a mind map, much like the ones on http://mind42.com, and link each bubble/text to a specific page possibly? Even if it required people manual linking to the pages themselves it could still be a big help for keep tract of things :o.

@Haseo-san

Good idea, to control the transitioning of objects. And while it can't be done with the visual interface at the moment, it would be, as far as I know, possible to do so with a script, since opacity (the transitioning in this case) is property of any object. Well, do you want to wait until Erik someday implements this in the interface or shall I explain to you what you need to know to build the script you want? :mrgreen:

@PinkMawile

It is possible to create pauses in the middle of a paragraph. You know, just split the paragraph into two at that point and make a tick for 'Append' in the new Dialogue-action-Property-Inspector-Window (what a word.) ;)

I did a search, but didn't find an answer, so here's my question.
Does Novelty have a "scroll back" function? It seems that Ren'py gives the player the ability to go backwards in a game by using page up/down and mouse wheel.
Someone who was playing one of my visual novels asked me about this.
Very respectfully,
fleet

No, it hasn't as of yet. But of course there is the possibility to use a log-screen where one can read the previous dialogue at least. Also, if you scrolled back the novel, wouldn't there be some complications once you get to a previous choice?

Regarding complications, in some of my VNs there would be because of values assigned to variables.

Hi, long time no post.

Right now there seems to be no way to navigate between the "Name" and "Phrase" fields in the dialogue / Paragraph panel using only the keyboard.

It would be excellent if one could tab and shift+tab (tab backwards) between the "Name" and "Phrase" fields (this way, the name field and the dialogue field do not have to be clicked on every time they must be changed.) Or perhaps, each new dialogue line added (with ctrl+enter) can begin with asking for the first 1 to 3 letters of the character's name, and the program could guess the name from a list of actors?

right now if you press ctrl+enter, the option of typing a new line of dialogue appears, but the "Name" is always the same as the previous line of dialogue, which makes it cumbersome to type in a back-and-forth dialogue.

Edit: Nevermind, it looks like author mode does what I'm looking for. :)
Edit 2: Nevermind, no it does not :(

I see alot of visual novels have visual effects (not transitions).

like flashes of white to simulate climax
flashes of red to simulate being pierced.
a slow fade out to a white screen (though that might just be a fade-out transition to a white screen (on that note why isn't there a white out effect?)
the screen goes to static
the screen goes all wavy like a cheesy flashback.

more over. I intend to use visual effect simultanteously.

e.g. I want to scale an object while the camera shakes to simulate running but I cant make it so both occur at the same time.

Those novels make their own graphics for that.

As for moving/rotating/scaling the object simultaneously, just uncheck the 'Wait to complete' box in the Property inspector of the action.

so let's say I want an animation or an object to appear right at point in the story.
Like just as I withdraw a character I want to use the mist animation to quickly pass by. The problem is there is no way but really awkward ways to do this.

Is the only way to create a script?

the alternative I thought of is to make the visibility of the objects invisible until I want to see them but wouldnt that make the scene extremely cluttered. You can enter and withdraw actors

why is it that you cant with other objects?

A ideal solution is to make objects become actors...but thats just silly. those are objects not talking animate beings.

When adding a background to a screen that background won't be shown when the screen is opened in-game.
