(In progress)Monokuro Rabu

Postby slider11 » Wed May 25, 2011 6:04 pm

Hi, I'm new to novelty and visual novel but I'm gonna make one.
And English isn't my mother language so it might be off or some typo in the novel.
I'm currently learning to use novelty and I've made an outline for the prologue.
Its still in step 1 so feel free to comment

Title(momentary): モノクロラブ(Monokuro Rabu, Monochrome Love)
This story is about a colour-blinded protogonist in his 16, lost hope to his colourless world, he walked up all the way to the roof of an apartment.
Then he saw a girl there, who was standing on the edge of the building...

Yeah thats about it. Still don't have character design but I'll make it someday.
Also I don't have Photoshop or any music-synthesizing programs so I'll accept any help I can get, feel free to post some designs and some music clips.

Hope I'm not bad in explaining, thanks.

Hello, welcome to the Novelty forums.
Here's a link to a site with royalty free music http://incompetech.com/m/c/royalty-free/
If I might offer a few suggestions:
1. Do a complete outline of the plot, and then write all of the dialog for your visual novel before doing any artwork.
2. Have someone who is a native English speaker check the dialog for grammar and spelling errors.
3. GIMP is a free download program that will do almost everything that photoshop can do. Here's a link www.gimp.org
4. Have some friends test your game before doing a general release.

Have fun, feel free to ask questions.

Very respectfully,
fleet
Why? I like big ones, that's why.

You mention colour-blindness, will you consider designing the graphics to depict this?

I think it would be quite interesting to use it to show the world in the eyes of the character.

Yes I'm going to make all the backgrounds monochrome.
There will still be some time for the prologue, sorry guys...

Did you do research into colorblindness?
I think it may be helpful to read interviews with people who are colorblind or something.

It's worth mentioning that most colorblind people don't see in monochrome but rather see the world with colors missing - full on total colorblindness is actually very very rare (and sometimes curable with a special contact lens)

I'm thinking of total colorblindness, its just fiction anyway.
Something like H2O footprints in the sand.

It's been a (long) while since I watched H2O, but wasn't the male lead blind, not colorblind? Though, I guess you're colorblind if you can't see anything at all ...

In game the graphics are shown in black and white.
Right now I'm halfway there (still prologue) with the script.
