So, after a hour of testing:

please note that I launched the designer first, not knowing which executable to launch first haha.

- The scene view does not resize correctly. I'm working now on a 15" monitor (yeah should change it but...).
So I resized it to 75% ^^

- When you press the mouse button to get to the next page of text, there are artifacts of the older text in the view window (replaced fastly but kinda disturbing).

- Create a dialogue, add a name, add a small dialogue text, press return to make a new line, type a text, then delete the text and the new line without deleting all the text.
There should be some sort of artefact left in the actions window. It happens everytime you add a line actually.
If you alt-tab to another application, the artifacts disappear.

This might be my own display pilots that are the cause.

- erm. How do you create a dialogue? XD
I browsed the help and it is written: "create a text box". By trying a little around, I found out that you just had to 2x click on the default window in the library. Then there's this problem. The behaviours submenu wouldn't show me what you have in the help documentation.
I have all the options when I right click but not the Text.
I imagine there's a way to put up the real text window but I didn't figure out yet how to do it.

So that's as far as I've gone.

I loaded the novelty demo (Stick it in??) and the others. (Who's this cute girl? :D)
No problem.

Suggestions:
A sort of ctrl-z like in photoshop, when you misdelete a dialogue, it's hard sometimes to remember what you typed.

"This application failed to start because d3dx9_37.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem."

Yes, it's a DirectX problem. Normal updating didn' solve, I had to fetch an 80-meg redist thing of the August 2008 version. Not really a bug, but I thought it was worthy of note.

Novelty seems to use 100% of CPU here. Annoying.

I also got the d3dx9_37.dll problem. Downloading just the .dll fixed the problem, so it would be a good idea to ship it with Novelty or provide it for download. Just downloading 1.7 MB zipped dll would be better than forcing everyone to download 80 MB redist.

Otherwise I'm still figuring out how to use it.

Put a texture into the window.
Put an action "Change animation"
select the object (in this case the texture)

and... It crashes. I don't even get an error, it just disappears completely. :(

Just what I found testing the program out for the first time. I read through the entire documentation first before I even touched it. xD But it looks so awesome, I can't wait to get my story going

Oh yeah, thats what I forgot to mention in my last post too. :)

An easy fix is to drag the nvz file into the exe but really... Who thinks of that.

:p

Yet another hour of happy testing :)

Display errors:
- If there's no value in the x or y field of a default button the displaying button appears weirdly in the actions window.
- There's no word wrapping if your string is too long. Some text goes out of the screen. Maybe fixable if you set an amout of usable string limit depending on the "font size" (or text layer size?).

Fatal errors:
- Launch the project from the beginning or launch from current page, the Actions window is not locked. The newly created object is being displayed but if you run out of actions, the supposed added object is not displayed and the program crashes.
> maybe if you lock the Actions window during the testing there's no possible crash.
(Btw, thank you auto-recovering system! <3 )

Suggestions:

- Make the windows hideable, like in visual studio. There a great need of working place XD
- Add new object with defaults to center of the Action window, it's easier to manipulate them (really? maybe...)
- update the help doc, to add a text layer to display your dialogues.
- draggable objects in the Actions window, to move one action up or down, without having to use the move up or move down (I don't know if it's easy to do, maybe by setting some sort of hidden index?)
- Make the editor less CPU consuming: everything is slowed down ^^

Questions:

- How do you set a defined text layer size, so that you can predict how far your text can go ? If I create a text layer, I can put any text to it but I don't know if it'll overflow the screen and I'll have to control my string size.
- What is the difference between "fade object" and "change visibility" ?

Small Sample:
Yay! :D (not really that great but... yeah, happy! :D ) To run it, drag and drop the nvz on the exe.

edit3: Updated again. The filesize keeps on increasing dramatically :D
There are still some alpha problems. Trying to figure out how to workaround.
It's a little fun project for those having problems in manipulating text layers.

About the windows being hideable:
I meant if it was possible to make them like in VS, when the window panels can be dockable so that when you hover the mouse over the little remaining bar, the window reappears entirely, thus saving space.
This is only a minor change for ergonomy (but might be a pain to code) so it's not a priority thing I think ^^

Hello! Switching to these forums (didn't think of checking here at first...). Everything's been said but I'll just add that I, too, wasn't sure which exe to launch. Player was out, but Editor and Designer weren't so obvious. I still went for Editor in the end, but it might benefit from a small launcher where apps are ordered by importance, along with an explanation on hover. Once people know what is what, they can launch the exe directly if they want.

Fatal Error:
If you put in the Actions window an event "go to page">"go to next chapter", the program crashes. This does not happen with any other option.

Display error ?
In a text layer, if you set up a variable, the variable recipient is not read.
For example, if I set a variable for $name, the scene viewer does not display what is in $name but the string $name instead.
